Standards & Codes of Practice

Standards & Codes of Practice We seek to gain agreement
on and compliance with
our Responsible Sourcing
Standards from all our
suppliers.

Bacardi Limited is the largest privately held distilled spirits company in the world and produces and markets a variety of internationally recognized spirits and wines that are distributed and sold globally.

The main raw materials are derived from agricultural products such as cane sugar, grapes, maize, barley and various plant flavorings. These materials are sourced from around the world including developing economies in Latin America and the Caribbean.

Bacardi’s Global Standards on Responsible Sourcing apply to all suppliers providing goods and/or services to Bacardi Limited. We seek to gain agreement on and compliance with our Responsible Sourcing Standards from all our suppliers.

Standards & Codes of Practice

Our global standards of Responsible Sourcing are based on the Ethical Trading Initiative (ETI) Base Code, an alliance of companies, non-governmental organizations and trade union organizations committed to working together to identify and promote good practice in the implementation of codes of labor practice, and key international standards including the International Labor Organization’s (ILO) fundamental conventions on labor standards and the United Nations Global Compact.

Our standards encompass what we expect from our suppliers in terms of labor standards, human rights, environment, health, safety and legitimate business practices. They represent minimum standards and we encourage suppliers who seek to implement higher standards within their operations. Bacardi also applies these standards within its own operations. For further information please visit our Environment Health & Safety section.

Each standard is supported by examples of the practices that would be expected in meeting that standard. These are available in a separate Code of Practice to all suppliers:

  Employment is freely chosen

Freedom of association and the right to collective bargaining are respected

Working conditions are safe and hygienic

Child labor shall not be used

  Living wages are paid

  Working hours are not excessive

  No discrimination is practiced

  Regular employment is provided

No harsh or inhumane treatment is allowed

Protection of the environment is part of business practice

Bribery and corruption are not part of business practices
